Memory Map

I always used to go to The Common with my dad when I was little because I lived right down the street. We would walk through and I was always fascinated with the trees because I was small enough to hide underneath them. There was always big, colorful Christmas lights on them, even in the summer sometimes. My dad would also chase my brother and I around the gazebo. There were little vents on each side, and we would shout to each other through them because our voices would echo over to the other side.

There were also benches with really tall lights next to them, which I always thought were cool because they were so big. I thought everything was so fascinating because they were so big and I was so small. There were also a few statues that I found interesting because I wondered how people could be made of stone. During Christmas, there were a bunch on Sesame Street wooden figures around. I always loved Big Bird and got very excited whenever I saw him. The Common was a very important place in my childhood.
